Egypt for a February half-term escape 2027
A seven-day family example with a clearly local school calendar, room for transfers and a data budget for the phones you actually use.

Check your own school calendar before booking.
This is a Surrey council example, not one UK-wide half-term. Academies and other school types can choose different dates. Check school INSET days; the normal return is Monday 22 February. Adjacent weekends are not extra official half-term days.
Confirm the school, not just the council
The published half-term is Monday 15–Friday 19 February 2027 for Surrey community and voluntary controlled schools. Other school types can set their own dates. Our seven-day trip can use adjacent weekends, but those are not part of the official five-day half-term. Confirm the actual return day before booking.
Choose one base for a short family break
Decide whether the priority is a single coastal base or a separate city visit with its real transfer time. Arrival and return days count towards data validity. Save accommodation details and transfer instructions offline. Check current official travel and entry information separately for the travellers concerned; this itinerary does not confirm eligibility or available excursions.
Check Egypt in the UK plan first
A UK home contract may include an allowance or charges specific to Egypt; do not infer the terms from a Europe label. If another eSIM helps, check hotspot permission before sharing with the family. The calculator covers one phone. Separate devices used independently may need separate plans, and data-only service does not establish ordinary calling or SMS.

Planning estimate for one phone: 0.15, 0.5 or 1.5 GB/day, plus 20%, rounded up per stop. Hotspot use belongs in the same budget.

Sources & selection
Surrey provides a specific published example. School type, INSET days and work leave still need checking; the same half-term dates cannot be assumed for the rest of Britain.
