Canada by camper: data beyond the city 2027
A campsite booking, the next fuel stop and the road ahead: prepare the information you need before reception becomes patchy. Compare the network for your route, not just the number of gigabytes.

June to August · a three-week camper example
These are editorial travel months, not a complete French school-holiday calendar. Check your actual school, rental and park dates.
Ask which network the product can actually use
First mark the towns, overnight stops and remote stretches on your own itinerary. Check the named local networks available to the exact eSIM product and consult their coverage information for those places. Combined national statistics cannot establish that your chosen partner has reception there. More data or a 5G badge does not create coverage where that network is absent.
Prepare each driving day while connected
Download suitable offline maps, campground addresses, reservation confirmations and relevant park information before the next driving stage. Check current access and road information with the responsible organisation. A downloaded map is not proof that a road is open. Keep a navigation backup suitable for the trip instead of making every decision depend on a working mobile signal.
One phone is not the entire camper’s allowance
The three-week example estimates one phone. Passengers streaming video, cloud backups and a laptop hotspot can share the same allowance if tethering is permitted. Check the actual device restrictions; a phone eSIM is not automatically suitable for a router. Include the rental pickup and return days in validity. If you cross into the USA, add it explicitly rather than assuming a Canada-only plan follows you.

Planning estimate for one phone: 0.15, 0.5 or 1.5 GB/day, plus 20%, rounded up per stop. Hotspot use belongs in the same budget.

Sources & selection
CRTC’s 2026 report records combined mobile coverage on 87% of major roads and highways. This is not land-area coverage or a promise from one provider. It supports a route-specific coverage question, not a claim of measured French summer search demand.
