Turkey during the Dutch May holiday 2027
Nine calendar days or a longer school break? Make the duration clear before choosing your route, app setup and eSIM validity.

Check the extra week firstYour holiday window
Check your own school calendar before booking.
A school may extend the break. OCW’s advice for an extra week is 1–9 May 2027; only your school confirms the actual closure.
A school extension is not automatic
The national period is 24 April–2 May 2027. Do not assume every school adds the advice week. Read the actual school calendar and your flight times, then compare the whole trip duration instead of choosing a 7-day plan for a 9-day trip.
Choose a city trip or a slower coast stay
Istanbul is one coherent base for a short trip. A coast stay or a Cappadocia extension needs its own transfer checks. Do not turn one week into three distant bases. Our existing Turkey guide covers route ideas; check current access and travel advice separately.
Prepare installation before travelling
Keep the provider instructions and support details offline and check when validity begins. An inaccessible provider app does not prove that your installed mobile data has failed. Use the symptom guide to separate app access from no signal or no internet; avoid deleting an installed profile.

An official May break with an optional extra week creates a real duration question. Turkey is our editorial route choice, not a measured May popularity claim.
