Backup internet

A backup connection must work when your main connection fails. Buying a SIM alone does not create a working failover solution.

Use cases in this guide

  • Home backup connection
  • Backup for a small business office
  • Backup for a shop or POS
  • Temporary event or pop-up business

We do not yet show confirmed, comparable offers for this use case. Use the checks below when speaking with your manufacturer, installer or provider.

Check before choosing

  1. Choose the applications that must keep working and the required duration. Check whether the router switches over and back automatically.

  2. Check that backup connectivity does not share the main connection’s vulnerability. Ask about network, power and router placement.

  3. Test an actual outage with the required apps. Check recovery, caps and how you detect faults or exhausted data.

Compare the complete cost

Include router, optional antenna, installation, standby charges, activation, usage and support.

Compare the same outage duration and traffic. A low monthly charge may cost more during an extended outage.

Ask the provider

Which services remain available during failure, how does switching work and what does a representative outage cost?

Take this question, your device model, countries and usage to the provider.
