A USA road trip in the summer break 2027
Build a 16-day regional journey with space for transfers, offline park information and the phones that will share the data.

Keep the road trip regional
Choose either a coherent city route or a park-focused region around the actual airports. The 16 days below include arrival and return travel. Do not add long drives just to fill the school window. If you also enter Canada or Mexico, add that country as a separate stop; a USA-only eSIM is not an international-border pass.
Download park information before departure
The official National Park Service app lets you download park content for offline use. Do this while connected and check current information for the specific park before travelling. A downloaded map is not evidence of cellular coverage or an open road. Keep relevant confirmations and a suitable navigation backup available offline.
Budget the hotspot you intend to use
Music, photo uploads and passengers sharing a hotspot use the same data allowance unless the provider confirms otherwise. Estimate one device in the calculator, then check permitted tethering and any fair-use or speed rules on the actual plan. A regional or unlimited label alone does not prove the family’s requirements are covered.

Planning estimate for one phone: 0.15, 0.5 or 1.5 GB/day, plus 20%, rounded up per stop. Hotspot use belongs in the same budget.

Sources & selection
A regional road trip makes school dates, offline park preparation and family hotspot use concrete. The route is editable and does not establish network availability.
